Generic name: Desloratadine
Aerius, known as Clarinex in the United States, is an antihistamine. Aerius is a medication that blocks the action of histamine, a natural substance in your body that is released by your immune system during an allergic reaction. Antihistamines are often used to help relieve the symptoms of seasonal and year-round allergies. Itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny nose, caused by exposure to indoor allergens such as dust, mold, pet dander, and outdoor allergens caused by pollen from trees, grasses, or weeds. Aerius provides nondrowsy 24 hour relief from allergy symptoms and is also approved to treat the itching and rash due to hives from unknown causes.
ADULTS
For adults and children 12 and older, the usual dose is 5 milligrams (1 tablet) once a day. If you have kidney or liver disease, the recommended dose is 5 milligrams every other day. |
